F.A.Q. (Frequent Asked Questions) - Updated 01/21/10
|
These are the most common questions regarding our clan.
01. What type of Clan are you?
Mercury Dragons is an adult roleplaying military clan. We're a group of clanners whose main goal is to eliminate all threats to the clans like Aliens, Omni-Tek, Dust Brigade, Cyborgs, Mutants, etc. All Officers have duties and assignments.
02. What do you mean you're an adult military themed clan?
Let's start by saying this is not your average run of the mill org. We are looking for mature gamers, we try to keep the clan drama-free of any bullshit from within the org.
03. Are you going to be the best Clan?
Our goal was and is to do our best as an organization to inform and train our troops so they in turn do their best in the efforts to keep our freedom and gain the independence we seek from Omni-Tek. For that reason Mercury Dragons Clan exists, to have the most experienced, strongest and seasoned clan warriors.
04. How can I join?
You can ask to be interviewed by an officer in-game, or post an application in our recruitment forum so an officer can seek you out. If you ask for an interview in-game and pass it, you still need to register at our forums and fill an application for our records.
05. Do you need to roleplay?
No, that is optional. We are mainly a roleplaying organization but we understand that not everyone is into that aspect of the game. Roleplayers need to act their role at least while in the presence of other MD members at times (not all the time). We're not strictly PvP, Powerplaying, Raiding or Roleplaying, it is a balance of all. If you aren't sure about roleplaying, please contact Windguaerd or a RP Officer, they will explain roleplaying and help you if you're interested in roleplaying.
The clan is very relaxed and we accept casual players.
06. What are your PvP Rules?
Current Rules of Engagement are as follows:
If an Omni or Neutral attacks you, you are free to kick his ass. Duels and pre-arranged engagements which are not planned by PvP Officers are the sole responsibility of members participating in such duels. Anyone attacking an MD Notum Base is automatically considered a hostile, and must be terminated with extreme force.
07. Do you participate in the AO Storyline?
Yes, we've been featured in the original AO website due to our active roleplaying (the current AO website removed old roleplaying news content). We've been involved in many things since 29475 (2001). We even have our own set of clothing with our name on it.
08. Do you create your own Storyline?
Yes, we have our own storylines and events, which are created exclusively for Mercury Dragons.
09. What kind of Military Events will you have?
We're always looking to send dragons to deal with threats to the clans. You could get an order to go on a mission or assignment at any given time. These could be fairly easy, or so risky that chances of survival could be as low as 5%.
We do not expect everyone to be perfect and complete every assignment, but you can be sure that we DO expect for all dragons to give 100% and do what's best for the clan first, and what's best for him second.
10. What kind of Social Events will you have?
Clan Meetings and Parties (with hired entertainment), contests and non-military roleplaying Events.
11. What are the requirements to join?
Currently there is no level requirement. You NEED to be MATURE, able to respect rank and everyone in MD, able to follow orders, willing to help any members of this clan by direct action or sharing of knowledge and/or any way to better fellow clan mates and/or the clan as a whole when possible. Real life family of a member are automatically invited even if recruitment is closed, they don't need to go through an interview but still need to fill an application. Friends of a member still need to apply and go through an interview even if recruitment is closed.
12. Do former Mercury Dragons still need to apply?
No, they can rejoin and be automatically recruited if they left good terms, they just need to prove they were in MD in the past (which can easily be done using AUNO.org). You can join with the original character you had in MD or with another character. You still need to fill an application though.
13. Can I apply with an alt instead of my main character?
Yes, you can have an alt in MD and your main in another organization. We're open minded and understand that there are casual roleplayers who may have a main which they don't intend to roleplay with.
14. How do I become an officer?
Officers are any profession, usually very experienced in the planet of Rubi-Ka (but not always), willing to spent time to improve clan mates and the clan as a whole. They keep in touch with other officers to keep track of overall progress of the clan, they help enforce the rules of this organization. An officer has good leadership skills, tactical and military experience on the field of battle (for the roleplaying aspect of the clan). If you can do this, then you have a chance at becoming an officer.
15. Can any officer recruit me?
Yes, but you still need to pass an interview and fill an application.
16. What time are most clan members online
Currently is hard to say, our members are from all over the world, from USA to Europe and Asia, different timezones. However it would not take long to make friendships with those who are on at the time in which you are in Rubi-Ka. Currently there are 5 to 15 members online during the day.
17. Will I get Armor, Weapons and Funds if I'm a member?
We do not promise nor guarantee you will be provided with such items or funds, however we do promise to help you in any way possible as long as it's reasonable. Since the first day we have seeing fellow dragons giving each other items and funds freely. The only thing you will receive once you join is a med suit (for implants).
To clarify, we will give you a hand. We won't babysit you. Anyone asking for expensive items on a regular basis without showing that they are worth that kind of expense (being in the clan a while, helping other members often, promoting the clan, and anything that would make you a valuable asset to our clan) will risk getting their ass kick out. We don't like beggars, and we don't like greedy assholes.
18. What should a new Mercury Dragon do in his/her first week?
Be active, socialize, introduce yourself and meet as many dragons as you can so they get to know who you are.
19. Is the org chat channel always In-character?
To be clear. Org chat is 100% OOC (Out of Character), you may roleplay if you wish in vicinity, through tells or other chat channels. This is so members can relax when they log-in and not feel any pressure to roleplay.
20. When would I be ON DUTY?
We expect dragons to be ONLY on duty during assignments, meetings and emergency missions. Otherwise, you're OFF DUTY.
21. How do I display my rank in-game?
It's an easy process. Just type /name first RANK i.e. /name first Private
Keep in mind that whatever your first name is in-game will be replaced with your rank. This change can take up to 24 hours.
Please do not petition about the change of your name, because it's an automated system. You will be notified when your name has been changed.
If after 3 days your name has not changed, then petition it. Be aware that for a name change the wait is pretty long as it is low priority in the petition queue. You are not required to do any of this, it's optional and 100% your choice.
22. How does the clan know my alts?
We use our bot to keep track of alts.
1) Login with your MAIN character (which we assume is in the clan already).
2) Select our channel in-game.
3) Type !alts add NAME-OF-ALT
4) Repeat step #3 for each alt you have.
When you log-in with your alt, the bot will ask you to verify if you want the character to become an alt of the main, once you confirm it, it will be listed. Please only add alts who have been recruited into the clan.
23. What are the ranks in the Clan?
In-game the ranks are different than the ones we use, because they do not have a military form that would represent us the way we want.
The ranks are as follows:
Applicant = Private Unit Member = Private Unit Leader = Lieutenant Unit Commander = Captain Squad Commander = Colonel General = General President = Commander
24. Am I required to register with the forums?
Yes, it is our main means of communication outside the game and it helps us keep track of the number of active players. Our private forums can only be accessed by registered users. Your account will be upgraded to MD status usually within 24hrs. If after 24hrs you don't have access to our private forums, please contact Commander Windguaerd.
Be sure that you register with the same character name you applied with.
25. Is it required for me to show my alts in the clan?
Yes, we do this so that dragons know who is behind a character. For example if the Commander is on with one of his alts but you need him to switch to his main to give you Feline Grace if he's available, you'll be able to know he is online since all his alts show his main is Windguaerd when he logs in.
26. Am I supposed to salute everyone?
As a Private, you only salute officers in show of respect, they salute you as well. Officers salute everyone, fellow officers and privates equally to show respect. This only applies when you're ON DUTY.
27. How do I use the bot?
Go to our channel in-game and type !help
The bot will automatically reply with a list of commands available to you. Our bot is very powerful, it can give you information about a player (profession, level and org he is in), level information to know who you can team and PvP with, show what level you need to be for a certain QL mission, show you over-equipping max for skill or requirement, show you which members are online, and many more functions.
28. Am I required to get all my alts recruited?
No, that is an option on your part, however any alts that are not in MD would not have access to our global channel in-game.
We hope this FAQ helps you make an educated decision.
