AO Movie Trailer Project

Ok, all needs a start.

Intro: Fake Green Screen with the standard "preview" and for all audiences image everyone sees in rl movie trailers.

Then it fades out to display the "Studio Name", maybe... "Atlantean Studios" with a logo of RK with the 2 suns in the background?

Needs a leet "pre-cartoon trailer" of sorts for the start I think.. then after that move on to the "feature presentation".. just an idea.. hehe

Well a cartoon would require some animation, and I got zero skills there. Unless we use in-game video.

Maybe a funny cartoon would be a leet speaking a very smart dialogue and then getting shot in the middle with an atrox saying "Me hope it dropped a tail, me hate camping dumb leets"... or something along those lines.

Re: AO Movie Trailer Project

A couple of years ago I had a concept for the AO Movie, basic idea.

Re: AO Movie Trailer Project

I just got a good idea for the musical background!

"Lux Aeterna" by Clint Mansell, the track is from his album "Requiem For A Dream", very popular for movie trailers and it always hits the mark. It's about 3:54 long, maybe longer if we find a remix.

Re: AO Movie Trailer Project

Ok the best adaptation of the song is from "LOTR: The Two Towers", and I'm downloading it now.

The music is going to pretty much force us to do something EPIC to match it, god dammit I'm excited about this.

OK the file can be heard here: http://www.aimini.net/view/?fid=bjN6gffuKker1e6KVEm8

Re: AO Movie Trailer Project

A shorter video would require something like the old "Gears of War" trailer music. "Mad World" sung by Gary Jules. Originally by Tears for Fears.

Less "epic" and more "dramatic".

Re: AO Movie Trailer Project

Good musical suggestions and I definitely like the concept of using a british females voice for spoken voice acting. Sign her up!

As for the cartoon do you with your resources have a library of AO textures? If I had proper texture files I could reproduce both L337s and Atrox's relatively easily in 3D max and rig them for basic animation.

In the last interview with Means, I asked if FC would allow the use of texture for a fan made video, his reply and I quote:

Quote
AOU: If a group of players were to make an Anarchy Online CGI Movie or short film, do you think Funcom would allow the use of the textures, music and sound effects from the game if it was a non-profit project?

Means:I would be interested in discussing it at least. It sounds like fun. The Devs want to be in it!

Re: AO Movie Trailer Project

Ok let's see if I can move this project forward.

Project Manager & Promoter- Windguaerd (because I have a laptop and can't do anything else besides writing)

Director & Video Editor - Xaun

Camera Men - The guys who have good video cards that can record the in-game scenes at high-res.

Actors - The players who will "act" the scenes.

Voice Actors - The players who will "voice" the actors (won't always be the same person acting and voice a character).

Sound Editor - The person who will be editing the sound, so that the normal AO background sound effects, battle effects and voices (from actors) match the scenes.

What do you think Xaun?

Re: AO Movie Trailer Project

Hello mates! i like the idea and think it would be fun to make a movie like this.

Here is my thoughts: since this is going to be fan made, i was thinking about a intro of a few fun/funny short movies/clips as a fun intriguing opening.. i have noticed that humor tends to grab a bit of the more "casual" people to a short and more so if they can relate to it. The atrox with the leet bit is a good example Smiley... Remember sound effects and the such from in game brings a little reality to it. if you want i will try to think up some stuff you could do. (for consideration of course)

Another thing to remember is even if its a small its a HUGE motivation to get even the smallest beginning running and in watching form. My brother in laws does a bit of script writing and and has made a few fun movies himself... if you want i can ask him for advise, wisdom or the such or see if he has any recommendations for sound editors or video compilers you could use.

Sounds great so far i hope to hear more about it.

"Means:I would be interested in discussing it at least. It sounds like fun. The Devs want to be in it!"

awesome there is a start... people are always interested in fun ideas like these. It might not be to impossible to get the devs in on it if you show them a nice trailer.. having ideas to add as much different people or instances usually results in a a great talk about it... you might also be supported if a lot of people are awaiting the finished project. remember that Movie making should always be fun to the people that's making it, the people that are in it, and the people that are watching it.

The more hard work and time you put into something tells people you are serious about making it. Having updates showing what you are working on at the moment is a good way to show this. (of course you probably don't want to add to many spoilers or the such. Smiley)

Again just some advise and ideas and such.
and would love to hear more of your ideas on the topic.

Re: AO Movie Trailer Project

Right now I have no time for this project, I need to get MD more solid before I could spare time for this.

Re: AO Movie Trailer Project

my desktop can run AO at 1680x1050 max settings at 100 fps (drops to 75 on a crowded day in bor) so i can do the vid capture.

unfortunately my desktop is currently back home 5 timezones away. maybe we should do this project when the new engine hits live so that it looks as pretty as possible?

Will heal for phats!
